Former Defence Minister Moosa Ali Jaleel has been appointed head of the National Counter-Terrorism Center (NCTC).
Yesterday, he was appointed Director General of the NCTC. He succeeded Wais Waheed as head of the NCTC, which was formed under the Prevention of Terrorism Act to protect the country from terrorism.
However, no official agency has yet announced whether the change was made after Wais's resignation or after his dismissal.
After more than 32 years of valuable service in the Maldivian Army, Musa Ali Jalil retired from the army on February 9, 2012, as the Chief of Defense Force.
He was also the Defense Minister during the tenure of former President Abdullah Yameen Abdul Gayoom. However, he was dismissed from the post in 2015.
