The Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) has announced a mega housing project for MNDF and Police personnel serving the country.

President Mohammed Muizzu announced the project on this year's Army Day, aiming to provide an adequate solution to the growing demand for housing as army service expands.

The project, which is being implemented jointly by the Ministry of Defense and the MNDF, will redevelop the temporary shelter and build a number of apartments for a large number of soldiers and policemen during their service.

MNDF said that they have planned to develop Bandeyri Koshi 1 as Phase 1 of the project.

They said that before vacating the building, they are informing the soldiers and policemen currently living there about the project, and their concerns are being addressed.

MNDF added that once the project is completed, it will provide housing for the existing residents as well as a large number of soldiers and policemen in service.
