Police have seized a large quantity of alcohol during a special operation targeting an illegal alcohol distribution network.
Police said that 3 individuals were arrested following a search of a residence in Henveiru ward of Male'.
They did not provide further information about the suspects but said they were still in the midst of the operation, which began last night.
Police assured that they are committed to combating illegal activities and ensuring the safety and security of the Maldivian communities.
Meanwhile, two Indian nationals were arrested last Saturday for the possession, use, and trafficking of liquor in Male'.
Police said that during an operation conducted on October 10, nine 500ml bottles of suspected liquor were recovered from the suspects.
They identified the suspects as 47-year-old Raaji Raaj Kumar and 54-year-old Vincent Raj Pon.
Police said they have handed both suspects over to the Maldives Immigration for action under the Immigration Act.
