The Government of Maldives has condemned the attack carried out by Yemen's Houthi militia targeting King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, on 10 October 2026, which resulted in the loss of life and injuries to hundreds of civilians.
In a statement, the Foreign Ministry of the Maldives said that the targeting of civilians and vital infrastructure constitutes a serious violation of international law and poses a grave threat to the security and stability of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the wider region.
It also said that the Government and the people of the Maldives extend their heartfelt condolences to the Government and the people of Saudi Arabia and to the families of the victims, and wish the injured a swift recovery.
The Foreign Ministry stated that the Maldives reaffirms its full solidarity with Saudi Arabia and its support for all measures taken by the Kingdom to safeguard its security, sovereignty and the safety of its citizens and residents.
Saudi Arabia accused the Houthis of killing at least 12 people and wounding 300 others in a third attack on the Riyadh international airport this week.
The victims of the attack on Saturday included four Saudis, two Bangladeshis and one person each from the United States, Jordan, Palestine, Syria, Sudan and Egypt, the General Authority of Civil Aviation said.
