Former Vice President Faisal Naseem has officially announced that he will contest the opposition MDP primary for the upcoming 2028 presidential election.

Speaking on Raaje TV's 'Fashaairu Program' today, he said that he decided to compete in the primary after consulting with former President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and with the ex-President's full support.

Faisal also said that in the last few days, he had studied the political situation in the country.

Praising the former President, Faisal said many people believe that former President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has done a lot of service for the people in the last MDP government.

He noted that the task ahead is difficult and requires a team that can work hard day and night without stopping.

The former Vice President also announced that Male' City Mayor Adam Azim would be competing as his running mate. Azim, who also appeared on the program, said that he accepted Faisal's invitation and was ready to work alongside him to secure the Presidential Candidacy.
