The Maldives and Belarus have signed an Agreement on Mutual Visa Exemption on the sidelines of the High-Level Week of the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
Foreign Minister Iruthisham Adam signed the agreement on behalf of the Maldives, while her Belarusian counterpart, Maxim Ryzhenkov, signed on behalf of Belarus.
The Agreement provides for mutual exemption of visas for nationals of both countries and permits single-entry stays of up to 30 days, or multiple-entry stays for a cumulative period not exceeding 90 days, within one calendar year.
During the discussions following the signing ceremony, Minister Iruthisham expressed her gratitude to the Government of the Republic of Belarus for its commitment to strengthening the existing ties of friendship and cooperation between the two countries and conveyed hope that the signing of this agreement will increase avenues for further engagement and people-to-people contact between the Maldives and Belarus.
