A local man who went diving from a fishing vessel from Raa Atoll Dhuvaafaru, has passed away.
Police said they received a report of the incident yesterday around 3 in the afternoon and had dispatched marine police vessels to the area from where the distress call had come.
Police said that the man was diving in the waters in Shaviyani Atoll and that his condition deteriorated when he climbed back into the vessel. They reported that the man was rushed to the Health Center in Shaviyani Maroshi and that the Center reported that the victim was declared dead on arrival at the Health Center.
The cause of his death is still not clear.
The victim of the incident has been identified as 30-year-old Mohamed Shaffan from Raa Atoll, Dhuvaafaru.
Police are investigating his death as they question the other crew members of the vessel.
