Minister of Homeland Security and Technology Ali Ihusan has ordered the Police and the National Integrity Commission (NIC) to investigate accusations by former President Abdullah Yameen about the fire that destroyed the offices of three Ministries in the Green Building.

In a post on X, the Minister said that he had asked the Police to clarify the comments made by the former President regarding the fire.

He said that the Police have been instructed to shape their investigation based on the information gained from the former President.

In addition, the minister said that he has also submitted a request to the Independent Police Investigation Agency (NIC) to investigate the allegations made by Yameen against the Maldivian police.

He said the government's policy is to ensure there is no room for corruption and misconduct within the police force.

Speaking at a rally held by the People's National Front (PNF) on September 5, 2026, Yameen accused that the fire at the Green Building was an arson attack.

He further accused the Police knew who was behind the arson attack and that the person was close to the President, Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.
