The 9-year-old girl who sustained serious injuries in a traffic accident last night near Vinares Flats in Hulhumale's has been moved to the Intensive Care Unit of the state-run Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital, IGMH.
The victim was initially rushed to Hulhumale' hospital for treatment after the accident but was shifted to the ICU at IGMH.
The Hospital has said that the victim was being treated on a ventilator.
Authorities reported that the accident happened around 9:00 last night on Hithigas Magu in Hulhumale', Phase 2. Police said that the accident happened when a motorcycle collided with a pedestrian who was crossing the road to get to a car stopped on the other side of the road.
Police said that an 18-year-old young woman was riding the motorcycle and that she had a valid license. The child injured in the accident is the passenger on the motorcycle.
Police are further investigating the case.
