President Dr Mohamed Muizzu departed for the State of Qatar this morning on an official visit.
The visit is being undertaken to pay respects on behalf of the people of the Maldives and himself to His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Amir of the State of Qatar, the Royal Family, and the brotherly people of Qatar, following the passing of His Highness Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, former Amir of the State of Qatar, yesterday.
Other foreign dignitaries are also expected to arrive in Qatar to join the Royal Family in mourning the late former Amir.
Today, the President ordered that the national flag of the Maldives would fly at half mast for a day following the death of the beloved ex-Amir who brought revolutionary economic changes to the Gulf country.
