The ruling People's National Congress (PNC) has decided to hold its congress earlier than the date scheduled, as it coincides with the O/Level examinations.
The party president, Dr. Mohammed Muizzu, made the proposal to expedite the congress date. The motion was passed unanimously by all the members present at the meeting.
Previously, the ruling party had scheduled to hold its Congress in October. However, with the decision to move the Congress forward, the party is yet to announce the dates for the event.
Last April, President Muizzu called on party members across the country to start preparations for the Congress.
He had said that this was the most important moment to further strengthen the party in accordance with the rules of democracy.
